Where in the world?

Temperate and tropical continental waters of the eastern central Pacific Ocean.

 

Animal Facts:

Adult females can grow up to 5 feet long, and males can reach about 3.5 feet long. They live approximately 6-9 years.

These sharks feed mainly on crustaceans, but also consume cephalopods and bony fishes.

Female Grey Smoothhound Sharks carry their eggs in their bodies until hatching. The 2-5 young born are 8-12 inches long.

Albino embryo Grey Smoothhound Sharks have been discovered, making these sharks one of a handful observed with albinism, or the lack of pigmentation.
